Hi All:

We hope you all have a great holiday season. Here is our update for today:

IMPORTANT MEETINGS THIS MONTH!

** Planning Commission meeting, Thursday, Jan. 10, 7 PM, Elbert County Fairgrounds. This meeting will be to review proposed oil and gas regulations. The proposed regulations are available on the county website: http://www.elbertcounty-co.gov/

** BOCC meeting, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 9 AM. (the meeting is normally held in the county admin building, but may be relocated prior to the meeting--check the county website for details) The proposed oil and gas regulations will be reviewed and likely voted on. There appears to be a push by the BOCC to get the regulations to a vote.

Your attendance at these two meetings is important to let your views be heard. Make plans now to attend.

##### Have you seen the seismic trucks and boxes in the county? An interesting article from the Niobrara News regarding the seismic testing company currently doing work in Elbert County.....the stock price of Geokinetics has dropped sharply in 2012......will this impact their ability to safely and accurately complete their projects?.......no way to know, but definitely worth knowing. Thanks to one of our ECOGIG members for passing this on to us.

##### Fracking concerns are not limited to the Front Range and the Niobrara play. California is facing the same issues.....however, rather than prairie being affected, this is happening in one of the most important agricultural areas of our country......pay particular attention to the excerpt from the Sacramento Bee which is quoted in the article......

The activity statewide and nationally is ramping up in the oil and gas industry. More and more people are beginning to push back against the intrusion of fracking in more densely populated areas.

Stay informed.....wishing you all a successful 2013!
