The Elbert County Oil and Gas Interest Group (ECOGIG) Page
February 3, 2013
There has been continuing work by the Elbert County Planning Commission on the proposed oil and gas regulations AND the
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will be presented for adoption in Elbert County. The next Planning Commission meeting
is Thursday, February 28 at 7 PM--this is the meeting they want to complete the regulations and then make a recommendation to the
Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Your attendance is encouraged.
** An article in the Denver Post highlights tensions between residents near BLM land that is being leased for oil and gas
development--and that Colorado has the most "push-back" of any western state....

** One of our ECOGIG contributors sent us this link about testing your water using the CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health
and Environment). They were very pleased with the results and process when testing their own water... MORE HERE
** We were wondering if some of you would respond to this question.....When you purchased your property, were you provided full
disclosure as to the ownership of the mineral rights? If so, were you told what any of the possible implications and practices of
mining/harvesting oil and gas would be?
We were not informed of this in either purchase of properties we have made in Elbert County--two purchases since 1993. We are
interested in your experiences.
Thanks for your continued engagement in these important issues.
